In a recent conversation with our Specialty Node Director, Dr. Sath Allareddy, Dr. Nalliah shared why academic leaders should be a part of the Network: “The National Dental PBRN is an excellent structure to conduct highly generalizable clinical research. As a clinical leader of an academic dental center, the criticism we sometimes encounter is that our clinical research was conducted in the highly controlled academic environment and our results may not be broadly generalizable to the busy clinician out in private practice. The PBRN framework for clinical research dismantles those concerns.”
He concluded the conversation with Dr. Allareddy, wishing the Network growth and success. “It is important for centers of higher education to have a role in guiding and initiating clinic research in dentistry. However, it is equally important for there to be a network like the PBRN to evaluate practices and products before releasing them onto the market. I believe the PBRN will have a growing importance in the decade ahead.”
